The Planning Studio, as a consultant to WATG, prepared detailed master/urban design plans for the 120 hectare (298-acre) Phase 1A and Phase 3 of Burj Dubai and for the 396-acre Phase 2 in the middle of Dubai, U.A.E. The goals for Phase 2, as well as the other phases was to create a unique urban district that related to Downtown Dubai, but had a more urban feeling. In order to give it a more urban texture, a neighborhood similar to Beirut’s “Solidere” district was created. The street network incorporated two “Ramblas”-style streets connecting the central Mosque with the cultural area and Burj Dubai Blvd. The master plans included new high-rise residential towers, community facilities such as schools, parks, museums and mosques, hotels and retail, commercial and office uses. Phase 2 contained 131 development parcels, mostly intended for mixed-use and mid- and high-rise residential uses. For: Emaar PSJC
