TPS, as a consultant to RNL International, prepared a detailed master plan for a 126.6 hectare (314 acre) site in the middle of Dubai, U.A.E. The master plan includes the Burj Dubai tower (now known as Burj Khalifa), currently the world’s tallest building. The overall master plan included approximately 23 million gross square feet of floor area. It includes the Burj Khalifa Tower; a 3.5 million square foot shopping center known as the Dubai Mall and currently the largest shopping mall in the world; a 2.1 million square foot office park; 55 high-rise residential /mixed-use plots, an “Old Town” Shopping and Entertainment Village and two mid-rise, Old Town Residential developments. There will be at least five hotels in the development which include the Mall Hotel, two Old Town Hotels, the Old Town Island Hotel and another high-rise hotel. The visual centerpiece of the new development is a 16 acre lake and a series of canals which link most of the uses together via waterways. Emaar has developed Downtown Dubai according to very rigid standards for quality, beauty and design. For: Emaar PSJC
